Lamborghini Cnossus concept car

Ever since the rumor started going around on the internet that the current Lamborghini flagship was getting ready to be replaced by a new model numerous concepts have been popping up from all around the world, some very interesting, others totally unpractical ... however this latest one, called the Lamborghini Cnossus does look very intimidating.

This amazing looking model has been designed by Victor Filipchenko (Filip) in collaboration with the talented Simoyshem Nelson from Portugal ... this concept landed Filip a 50% percent discount on a one-year Masters Course in automotive design ... and judging from the images we can surely understand why.

The overall design of the Cnossus was loosely based on the magnificent Lamborghini Countach; something we can clearly recognize from the windshield for instance, but naturally the Cnossus moved well ahead in time with a very fluent design from front to rear, somewhat angular like the Countach but still very much a Lamborghini, the front spoiler reminds us of the Reventon and the Gallardo LP560-4 unit, there are even those well known 'telephone dial' wheels that made their return onto the Cnossus, a very nice 'blast from the past'.

At the rear the 'Y'-style taillights take the design started with the Reventon one step further, a very narrow band of lights is mounted here, and they even function on the scale model, a very nice touch, the large twin, central mounted exhaust pipes are impressive, as would be the sound from the brand new V12 engine used to power this 'Race car', the theme that Filip used for his thesis work.

If you take a closer look at the design drawings you will notice that he even designed a track monster of the Cnossus, complete with roof mounted air intake and massive rear wing ... too bad he didn't make a scale model of the Cnossus R-GT yet ...

So where did Filip derive this name from ? Actually Cnossus was the main city of the island of Crete, the capital of the kingdom of Minos, we surely remember him from the Minotaur, part man, part bull ... hence the relation with the Raging Bull make.

Will the new Lamborghini flagship look anything like the Cnossus when it will be unveiled later this year ? I seriously doubt it to be honest, but at least we can all dream about super cars like this, and some of us even put them into scale models to admire even more.
